Why Zono exists

Much of retail in Nigeria already happens in comments and direct messages. It is fast and personal, and it works, until a payment goes missing, an order gets lost, or a return turns into an argument.

Buyers carry most of the risk. Vendors spend their days chasing transfers and answering the same question again and again.

Zono keeps what works, the conversation, and adds what is missing: a real checkout, delivery tracking, and clear rules for returns.

How we work

Eight commitments we hold ourselves to.

  1. Verified vendors

    We verify every vendor's identity before their first sale. A verified badge means we checked who they are. It is not a guarantee of any product.

  2. Zono Pro or Zono Flex

    Vendors choose Zono Pro, where we hold payment and handle returns, or Zono Flex, where they handle their own. Either way, checkout and tracking work the same for buyers.

  3. Small groups first

    We onboard vendors in small groups so each one gets hands-on help, and we build carefully before we open the doors wider.

  4. Guest checkout, always

    You never need an account to buy on Zono. An account only makes things easier: saved items, followed vendors and every order in one place.

  3. Terms before you pay

    The return terms for your order are shown before checkout, and you confirm them. Read them in our Returns and refunds policy.

  4. Pay and track

    Pay securely, follow your delivery in My Order, and see return terms before you pay. Payments made outside Zono are not protected, and we cannot help with them. We say so at every step where it matters.

Damon Haastrup

Damon has led operations in supply chain, logistics, procurement and e-commerce since 2012. His background spans enterprise technology and systems architecture, with 15 years of experience in IT transformation and platform development. He holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Deji Bisiriyu

Co-Founder, CTO and CSO

Focus: Technology architecture, financial strategy & fundraising

Deji brings over 25 years of experience in enterprise IT and data leadership, with roles at ADQ, G42, Accenture and NYSE across EMEA and GCC markets. He holds an MSc in Software Engineering from the University of Essex.

Joanne Sanni

Sales, Marketing, Vendor Success & Growth Lead

Joanne leads growth strategy for Zono’s vendor community, drawing on more than 10 years’ experience across sales, marketing, and vendor success. She’s spent her career helping platforms build a strong vendor base and keep those relationships active and thriving long after onboarding, turning first sign-ups into long-term, engaged partners.

At Zono, Joanne drives the strategies that bring new vendors onto the platform and keep them growing alongside it, blending sales and marketing know-how with a hands-on focus on the vendor experience. She holds a Master’s degree in International Marketing and has a passion for building systems and relationships that help Africa’s vendor community thrive.
